margaret laurence

i'm reading "the diviners" by margaret laurence. i first picked up "a jest of god" by her in a used book store on oak bay ave. after which, i found "the diviners" and "stone angel" at another used bookstore. i'd forgotten how much i enjoy her writing style and how her characters have a pitch-perfect melancholy to them. i've been reading a lot lately, mainly parking myself at my local caffeination station. books and books and more books. i have a bunch of new ones on the table waiting to be read, and two non-fiction ones as well "on the go".

always am seeking recommendations (hint, hint).

Recently finished Linchpin by Seth Godin. I would highly recommend this one.

Also the CBC's Canada Reads just wrapped-up and the shortlist was full of very worthy Can Lit.

I need to start reading not so serious books. Non-fiction is making me dull.

Try some Nick Hornby - very funny stuff. Of course if you love Margaret Laurence (and who wouldn't) you should also love Timothy Findley.
